Collaboration in a series of funded research
projects, focusing on the invention of energy efficient
construction techniques, has drawn on and developed
the practice expertise in the field of sustainable design.
Projects at the building scale pay particular attention
to use of daylight and management of energy flows within
structures. In larger scale urban competitions, (such
as winning competition entry for Columbo Sri Lanka),
more complex infrastructural propositions for sustainability
have been explored.
Our belief that sophisticated forms of
multi-disciplinary co-operation and understanding are
essential for new urban solutions underpins these projects
- as does our participation in research, teaching and
publications such as 'City Fights; debates on urban
sustainability'.
