d-squared partners are Clare Gerrard and Mark Hewitt.
Both are trained architects. Clare Gerrard has also trained as a film maker, and Mark Hewitt has developed skills in environmental design. These areas of expertise have been extended through practice and academic work (both partners have held Senior Lectureships in Architecture), and inform the practice's broad design approach. The practice has built on this multi-skilled background to establish a reputation for delivering acclaimed work in a wide spectrum of design areas.

Recent built work has attracted wide press interest and praise for its clarity and invention, and for efficiency of delivery. Other outputs include product design (two of the practices products have been selected for exhibition by Sotheby's), video work (a recent documentary commissioned by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister through the Architecture Foundation) and academic research work (prize-winning research on environmental issues).

The practice has received a number of commissions for producing high profile video and art installations for clients including The Hayward Gallery, The British Council, Levi's and Selfridges.
